After the Alladi Ramakrishnan Centenary Conference which took place at MATSCIENCE, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), in Chennai during Dec 16-18, 2023, The Hindu published this article detailing the efforts of Professor Alladi Ramakrishnan in creating the Institute. Much information for this article is drawn from my article titled “The Contributions of the Alladi Ramakrishnan in the Mathematical Sciences” which appeared in the book “The Legacy of Alladi Ramakrishnan in the Mathematical Sciences” edited by me, John Klauder, and C. R. Rao, and published by Springer in 2010, as well as from other material in this book.
